copycat art
I have a long and storied tradition of blatently ripping off artists whose work I like. This has always been done photographically in the past, usually photos of sculpture in museums or screenshots of some video. But recently I've started doing it with paint. I made a fake Rothko which is much too large to scan, but here are some recent copies of styles I like. These paintings are smaller, so I can at least scan portions of them.
These aren't the complete paintings. I have found that copying someone else's work is a pretty good way to appreciate what they did. That's probably the main reason to do these, but another is that it is really fun.
